Liposomes are spherical-shaped vesicles that are composed of one or more phospholipid bilayers. They may look like something you would have encountered in a high school biology course, and that's no coincidence That's because liposomes mimic the structure of your cell membranes, making them the ideal vessel to transport ingredients directly into your body.
Most ingredients have a difficult time penetrating the cell membrane and therefore take a while to "absorb". But liposomes readily merge with and transport nutrients through these membranes for faster and more efficient results.
By encapsulating an ingredient in liposomes we can effectively dissolve lipophilic (oil-based) nutrients, that are otherwise nearly insoluble, into a homogeneous aqueous solution! But that's not all, by modifying the structure of the liposome we can also encapsulate hydrophilic and even amphipathic ingredients.
We understand that many ingredients have a naturally unappealing taste, but our liposomal structures naturally conceal most unwanted flavors. That means our emulsions our immediately ready to be added to finished products without the hassle of advanced flavor masking.
